Yoon Hur

Yoon joined THA as an Intern Architect in 2025, having completed her Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture at the University of Waterloo. She first joined the office as a co-op student in 2022 when her work involved assistance to senior project architects on the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant, Legislative Assembly of Ontario and TDSB Jones Avenue School. Yoon is currently assisting the team on the Contract Administration of the York Memorial Collegiate in its dramatic transformation, following the fire of 2019. Her work is inspired by the principles of heritage conservation by finding new value in the adaptation of the built environment.

During her Graduate studies, Yoon was a teaching assistant while completing her thesis, “MATERIAL WORKS”; the thesis project was awarded the Ontario Graduate Scholarship in 2024. Her work has been recognized for its innovative approach to sustainability and aesthetics by the AIA COTE, Canadian Architect, Dezeen, ASAI, Buildner, and NSoA.

Recognized for her skill in hand drafting and sketching, Yoon values the act of drawing as both a tool for exploration and a bridge between concept and construction. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for how buildings are made — and remade — through care, craft, and curiosity. In 2025, Yoon received the Award of Distinction from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators, and her work was exhibited at the Architecture in Perspective International Conference in Tokyo.
